Africa Privacy Roundup is an initiative of Privacy Hub Africa, a youth-led, non-profit organization dedicated to advancing data privacy awareness, education, and advocacy across the African continent.
Africa stands at a pivotal moment in its digital transformation. With the continent’s digital economy projected to reach $712 billion by 2050 , our future prosperity, sovereignty, and security depend on how boldly and wisely we navigate emerging technologies — especially Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, and Cybersecurity. However, we are navigating this transformation without a compass.
With limited access to locally grounded research and policy insights, African policymakers frequently adopt Western digital governance models by default — models that may not fully align with local priorities or risks. Simultaneously, private actors face a fragmented and ambiguous regulatory landscape: while some proceed without clarity on legal and ethical boundaries; others remain cautious, delaying innovation or investment due to the lack of dependable policy directions. This gap is ultimately a failure of knowledge infrastructure. Africa lacks a centralized, accessible, and analytical repository documenting the complex developments in digital governance into actionable, locally grounded insights.
A continent-wide, African-led knowledge platform focused on privacy, cybersecurity, and AI governance.
Grounded in African realities, not imported solutions
Combines privacy, cybersecurity, and AI foresight into one strategic tool (no silos)
Goes beyond trend reporting to include foresight and scenario planning, enabling stakeholders to anticipate risks and opportunities
Directly aligns intelligence with Africa’s digital economy and growth agendas
